Press New trip in the trip picker at the top of the planner, type a name or a destination, and press Create trip. Dates can wait. What a trip holds, days of stops on a live map, is in How Treader works.
Where to start one
New trip sits in the trip picker's dropdown and at the top of My Trips. A new account's Welcome to Treader card (Start your first trip) and the Getting started checklist open the same form.
What the form asks
- 1 Give it a Trip name you will recognize later: "Lisbon in May" beats "Trip 1".
- 2 Add a Start date and End date, or press Ask everyone with a date poll to let the group pick first.
- 3 Add a Destination and pick a match to pin the map there; a name you never pick takes the top match.
- 4 Press Create trip. A name or a destination alone is enough.
More options adds a starting point, a cover, how you'll travel and a note, all optional. The note becomes a page in Notes; everything else changes later from Edit trip details on the current trip in the picker, or from My Trips.
Start from a ready-made trip
The form opens on Blank trip. Pick Ready-made trips beside it to start from one of Treader's own plans instead. The cards sit under Across Canada, then Further afield, shortest first, and a length filter narrows them to day trips, weekends, long weekends or a week or more. See the plan opens the trip's public page in a new tab. Start copies it into a trip of yours with every stop, time and note in place, ready to change, and you pick your own dates afterwards. A trip longer than your plan allows keeps its first days, and a notice says how many.
Some ready-made trips carry a second plan for a hard day. On the trip's public page that day shows Another way to do day N, for the rain day, the no-car day or a sold-out shuttle, with its own stops. A copy keeps them: each stop arrives as a Plan B idea for that day, with the alternative's title at the start of its note, and the day itself holds only the main plan. A Plan B row at the foot of the day's stops lists them, a wet forecast on a dated day opens it, and Use today adds one to the day. On the board they sit in the Ideas pen under a Plan B tag. A day your plan's length cuts takes its alternatives with it.
Dates set the day count
Dates give the trip one day each. Without them it starts as one day, Day 1, and Add day in the top bar's Days menu adds more. A trip runs up to 7 days on Free, 30 on Pro ($4.99 CAD a month) and 60 on Discovery ($9.99 CAD a month); a longer range ends on the last day your plan allows, and the form names it.
Inviting people after Create trip
Create trip goes straight to the planner. Once a trip of yours has three places and nobody else on it, a small bar at the bottom asks "Going with someone? Plan it together." Invite opens Share, where Create invite link makes the link to send, and the cross dismisses the bar. Either answer ends the offer for that trip on that device. Started from the group trip planner, Create trip opens a second step instead, Who's coming?, with the link ready to share or copy and a search for people already on Treader. Anyone with the link can see the plan and join. Free seats 1 editor beside you, Pro 3, Discovery 10; everyone after that joins view-only. Inviting people works any time from Share. Your garage, your Travel Data vault and your Scout chats stay yours.
See all your trips in My Trips
My Trips, under Plan in the menu, lists every trip on its Trips tab, with Mine, Shared and Deleted to switch between them. Sorted By date, the default, the trips fall into Now, Upcoming, No dates yet and Past. Recently added and A to Z give one flat list instead.
Once two dated trips fall in the next twelve months, a strip headed The next twelve months sits above the groups. It starts at the beginning of this month, and each dated trip is a bar from its first day to its last, so a bar's place says when the trip is and its length says how long. A brass line marks today. Trips ahead are in your accent colour and one that has already ended goes grey. Trips that overlap stack in up to three rows, and a line under the strip says how many more are in the list below. Point at a bar to see the trip's name and dates, and tap it to open the trip in the planner, the same as tapping its row. The strip draws the trips in the list under it, so switching to Shared, or searching, changes it, and a trip with no dates stays off it.
Deleting a trip, and getting it back
The X beside a trip in the picker deletes it at once; Delete in Trip hub > Overview asks first. A deleted trip waits in the Deleted filter of My Trips for 30 days, receipts and split included, until you press Restore. On a trip shared with you, both controls leave it instead, and the owner keeps it.
Tip
Trip count is not what an upgrade buys: every plan holds up to 50 trips of your own, deleted ones aside. Paid plans buy length and editing seats, set out in Plans and billing.
