Public holidays from Nager.Date. Saturday and Sunday count as the weekend; "Book off" is the one workday that joins a holiday to it. Check your own employer's list: not every day here is a paid day off for everyone.

01

How the list is made

Each row is a public holiday plus the weekend days touching it. When one ordinary workday sits between the holiday and a weekend, that day is listed under Book off: one vacation day for four days away. A Wednesday holiday does not appear, because one booked day does not reach a weekend from there.

  • National holidays for every country listed; provincial and territorial days for Canada when you pick a province
  • Christmas and Boxing Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday fold into one row when they touch
  • Past weekends stay in the table, greyed, so the year reads whole

02

What Treader does with the dates

Treader is a free group trip planner that puts every stop on one live map and checks the plan against sunset and public holidays on your dates. Build the long weekend as a trip and each stop that falls on a public holiday gets a warning row, named by the holiday, because opening hours from providers rarely encode the closure. Free on every plan.

  • Opening hours read against the day you arrive, not today
  • Holiday warnings per stop, by country and by province
  • Pro adds road conditions and border wait times along the route

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What people ask before they plan a first trip. The docs go further.

Read the docs
01 Does the list include provincial holidays?

For Canada, pick the province or territory: Family Day, Islander Day, Louis Riel Day, the August civic holidays and the rest are added to the national list. Other countries show national holidays only.

02 What is a bridge day?

A workday between a public holiday and the weekend. Book it off and a Thursday or Tuesday holiday becomes four days away for one day of vacation. The table lists it under Book off.

03 Where do the holidays come from?

Nager.Date, an open public-holiday dataset, refreshed weekly. It lists the days the public sector observes. Some are not paid days off for every employer, so check your own list before you book.

04 Can I plan the weekend in Treader?

Yes. Start a trip, set the dates, add stops on the map, and the holiday check runs on every dated day. It is free, with no card needed.
