On this page
A spot is a place you put on the map yourself: the bakery that beats the famous one, the viewpoint with no sign, the taco truck that saves your Tuesdays. Every spot carries a visibility you choose when you make it.
Three audiences
- Private: yours alone, for stashing finds.
- Friends: visible to your mutuals on their maps.
- Community: public. These pass a quick automatic review before joining the shared map, and neighbours upvote the good ones.
Spots that happen at a time
A spot can be an event or a recurring thing rather than a fixture: a weekend market, a festival, taco Tuesday itself. Timed spots show a live line like "Open now" or "Starts in 2 days" in the right timezone. Free accounts can run an event up to 3 days; Pro stretches that to 30 for the long festivals.
Moments
A moment is a photo pinned to a place, posted from the composer to your profile grid. It's the travel journal that builds itself while you go. Post one from the square + on your profile or Post a moment in Browse: add a photo and a caption, pick the place and a category, and choose who can see it.
- Photos keep their own shape, from tall 4:5 to wide 16:9. A photo inside that range shows whole, and a taller or wider one is cropped to the nearest limit.
- You choose the framing. When a photo overflows its shape, drag it, or use the arrow keys, until the crop shows what you want. On a photo wider than 4:5, a Post and Grid switch previews the 4:5 crop the profile grid uses.
- Camera and settings fill in from the photo when it carries them, under Photo details, along with the date it was taken. Edit or clear them before you post. They show as one line under the post.
- Who can see this is Everyone, Followers or Only me, and Live until sets a time for a moment that is happening now.
- Edit, in the ⋯ menu on your own moment, changes its caption, category and audience. The photo, the place and its details stay as posted. Delete asks first, then takes the moment off your profile and Browse, with its likes and comments, and you cannot undo it.
Tip
Spots go deep. Campers: Find free overnight spots. Run a food truck or a stall? Put it on the map. And if a community spot looks wrong, report it from its card; reported spots come down fast.
